Work on your career during the holidays

As a follow-up to last week’s post about job hunting in December, here are some tips to help you work on your career during the holidays.

Are you searching for what you really want to do? Take some time to determine what type of work you would like to do. There are career exploration books in the library (call #650.14).
If you need help finding books, stop at the Reference & Information Desk in the library.

Do you have a LinkedIn account (https://www.linkedin.com/)? If you need help with setting one up or editing your LinkedIn profile, come to lab or attend our next LinkedIn class at the Poughkeepsie Public Library District. (classes for January through March available on or after 12/26/14).

At the very least, set some goals for 2015 so you’re ready to go as the new year begins.

Job searching in December

While it is important to take some time off to recharge during your job search, December could be the month you find a job so don’t take that break yet.

Less people are searching in December and there may still be budget money available to hire new employees.
