Word 2010 – Selecting words or paragraphs

When you are working in Word and want to format text, you will need to select the text before you can apply text formatting (text formatting options are in the Font group on the Home tab of the Ribbon).

Many people know that they can click the mouse and hold it down while dragging through the text (usually referred to as click and drag).

There are other ways to select text that may be easier and faster. There are several ways of accomplishing these tasks.                              Find what works for you!

To select: Do this:
One word Double-click the word (works throughout Windows programs and the internet)
Several words Click and drag
One paragraph Triple-click anywhere in the paragraph (if you move the mouse before the third click, you will have to try again)
Entire document Ctrl-A (keyboard combination – press and hold the Ctrl key, press and release A key, then release Ctrl)
